Three stages of Mlima Hema, Ole-Naishu and Greystones will be repeated twice for a total competitive mileage of 153.04km and liaison distance of 62.16km.

The battle for the Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) 2022 title continues this weekend with 21 drivers registered for the sixth leg of the national series set for 2 and 3 September.

As it stands, leader Karan Patel and Jasmeet Chana stand the highest chances of clinching the title as they lead the standings at 135 and 134 points respectively after five legs.

The rest of the field is far from braking the 100-point mark as third-placed Kush Patel and Two Wheel drive (2WD) crew of Leo Varese and Kigo Kareithi, fourth are at 54 and 51 points respectively.

Chana, the only driver with an untainted record this season having finished all five rallies is seeded third in the list led by Raaji Bharij and Ravi Soni with second sed going to Hamza Anwar co-driven by Adnan Din.

Meanwhile, record-time KNRC champion Carl Tundo who has only competed in the Safari Rally this season, raking in 39 points that place him eighth has entered the Nanyuki rally where he will be navigated by Samuel Taylor. In a Triumph TR 7, Tundo has been seeded ninth.

Also making a return to rallying is Carl’s father Frank Tundo who is preparing for several classic rallies in Europe. Gareth Dawe, a long-time navigator for the top drivers including Onkar Rai will co-drive the septuagenarian.

Another veteran, Ian Duncan is also expected to make a return with Jaspal Matharu as his co-driver. The former World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally winner will drive a Nissan Datsun as he looks to earn his first points of the season.

The six-time KNRC champion has only competed in one leg of the series this season, at the Africa Rally Championship (ARC) Equator Rally which was held as the third leg but did not finish.

Nanyuki Rally will start and end at Greystones which is also the venue for the Service Park and Rally Headquarters. Scrutineering and reconnaissance shall take place on September 2 paving way from action on September 3.

Three stages of Mlima Hema, Ole-Naishu and Greystones will be repeated twice for a total competitive mileage of 153.04km and liaison distance of 62.16km.

The designated spectator viewing point will be centered on Greystones. The repeat run of Greystones will serve as the event’s Power Stage where the fastest drivers will earn bonus points for the Championship.
